Summer Succulence! – Jimmy Beans Wool Blog

In honor of ringing in the summer months, a lot of us Beans have gotten back into the habit of gardening and growing our greenery collection. Some of us are proud parents of a small-scale farm, while others simply find joy in adding another houseplant to our one windowsill that gets proper light (totally not speaking from experience here). There’s just so much delight that comes with the territory of having a green thumb. The pride you feel when your plant baby grows a new leaf is unparalleled – you go, little dude!

To celebrate our collective green thumb, we’ve put together a fun list of botanical kits and patterns to bring the worlds of fiber and ferns together, hehe! We understand that not all of us are plant parents, but we ARE all makers, and making our plants can be just as fun as taking care of the real thing (plus, the whole “it can’t wilt” thing is very appealing to us).

L.O.V.E. Cactus Kit

For a lot of us Beans, we’ve realized that cacti are a lot harder to care for than anticipated. Sure, they don’t need a lot of water, but that’s the problem! We care for them too much! Overwatering is a huge misstep a lot of us take and nothing is as sad as having to say goodbye to a soggy succulent.

That’s why we’ve come up with the L.O.V.E. Cactus Kit! Squishy and adorable, this exclusive kit from Jimmy Beans is great for gifting or delving headfirst (er, hook first?) into the world of crochet!

Using Universal Yarn Uptown Worsted, you will have four cute cacti (which you can actually snuggle up with and not get poked) spelling out the word “Love”, reminding us to enjoy what we do, which is make! This kit also comes with a cute cactus stitch marker designed by our friend KT and the Squid! Each kit comes with a download code to get started as soon as you receive it!

Grow Yourself Kit

School is officially in session! Have you ever wanted to learn how to macramé? We’ve always fallen in love with the intricate knot-tying and laddering patterns, but we’ve never taken the time to learn how to do it – until we got a hold of Gisell Leon of course!

Her expertise in all things fiber (both the plant kind and the yarn kind) led us to cross paths in an explosive way, creating the Grow Yourself Kit!

This sweet kit comes with everything yo need to create an adorable little succulent hanger of your own!

Available exclusively from Jimmy Beans Wool, this kit comes complete with a 1 1/2 ring, 3mm of twisted cotton rope, a terracotta pot, an emery board, and a packet of Handmaid.

Macro Botanica Book

Finding a good, cohesive collection of patterns is always a challenge we love to take, and it seems Scheepjes loves to make it easy on us! With pages upon pages filled with vibrant photography and gorgeous, thoughtful designs, and easy-to-follow instructions!

Each YARN pattern book from Scheepjes comes with both knit and crochet patterns for you to follow along with, making it easy for you, no matter what craft you partake in, to be included with some absolutely breathtaking options and scrumptious color palettes!

Botanical Tee

We looove a good leaf motif around here and the Botanical Tee is certainly no exception! The lacy front and back panels of this pullover go incredibly well with the muted colors of Tosh Wool + Cotton and the overall boxy shape lends itself to look incredible on everyone!

Ideal for wearing out for your summer gatherings and warm-weather get-togethers, we can safely say we’re just a little bit obsessed with it! The boat-neck neckline and short sleeves also help keep you cool in the summer heat. We think Knitatude did an incredible job in designing this beauty!

KT & The Squid Stitch Markers – Plants

Okay but, like, how stinkin’ adorable are these stitch markers from KT and the Squid?

We love making with our hands, but never did we imagine the dedication and effort it would take to hand-draw and hand-make all of these cute little additions to our project bags! Each set of the “Plants” stitch markers come with five locking stitch markers with acrylic charms added showing off cute cacti and sweet succulents!

Glowing Leaf Shawl

When we say this wrap is big, we seriously mean it – it’s huge! This beginner-friendly scarf is the perfect way to whet your needles’ appetite for something big and beautiful! Using 2-4 cakes of Freia Fine Handpaints Shawl Ball Fingering, the colors come together in harmony to make this fully reversible work of art!

The distinct appearance of this piece makes for a wonderful statement accessory, working its way easily into anyone’s wardrobe! Available in two sizes, you can decide if you want to take the small quest of Size A or the huge journey of Size B! We can’t thank Ursa Major Knits for dreaming it up!

Koigu Grevillea Shawl

Last, but certainly not least, is the Koigu Grevillea Shawl designed by Ambah O’Brien! Ambah just keeps on winning with her stellar designs taking our hearts by storm! Koigu curated five delightful colorways to appeal to each one of us, all resulting in something beautiful and timeless!
