There is nothing quite like New York City at Christmas. The city’s lights, window displays, and the famous Rockefeller Center tree create an unmistakable atmosphere of wonder. Growing up in New Jersey, Jeff and I made the annual trip into the city every year to soak it all in. Experiencing those same moments again through our son Arlo’s eyes this year felt especially magical and nostalgic.

For Arlo’s first trip to New York at the holidays, we brought along a Canon EOS Rebel T7i to capture all the little moments. It’s lightweight, easy to handle, and ideal for family travel. The camera’s combination of portability and image quality made it perfect for our outings — from bright window displays to candid street scenes. Below are some favorite photos from our trip.

One of the standout features of the Rebel T7i is its 24.2 megapixel APS-C sensor, which delivers vibrant color and excellent detail. The images we captured had rich tones and sharp clarity, perfect for preserving the small expressions and spontaneous moments that make a first trip so memorable.

Because the camera is compact and user-friendly, it’s an easy choice for traveling families. Bundled up in winter layers, we appreciated not having to juggle a heavy or complicated setup while chasing a curious toddler through the city streets.

We even discovered a few spots where our outfits blended with the holiday displays—because matching a theme is always fun. Those playful moments made for some of our favorite shots.

Welcome to NYC, little buddy! These photos are moments we’ll cherish forever, and we hope Arlo carries them as fond memories of his first holiday in the city. If you haven’t experienced New York at Christmas, it’s well worth adding to your travel list. And if you’re looking for a reliable family camera that balances image quality with ease of use, the Canon EOS Rebel T7i was a great fit for our trip.
