My Notes: The Solace Square is a gorgeous, entertaining square that has a few surprise moves – in other words, trust the pattern! Also be sure to read through all the special stitches before you begin. As always, Carolyn has created a beautiful, center-out square for us. They are always a hit, and great for most skill levels. Perfect for finding a bit of solace with your yarn for a wonderful evening.

Sizing: After Rnd 12, my square measured 10.5″. So I decided to work Rnd 13 as an hdc rnd and then add an extra rnd of sc. Everyone’s gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to ensure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12β³ is measured across and up and down β not diagonallyΒ corner to corner.
What I Did:
I used aΒ Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, andΒ Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):
1 : Cornsilk
2: Merlot
3: Cornsilk
4: Boysenberry
5: Cornsilk
6: Mallard
7: Cornsilk
8 and 9: Merlot
10: Cornsilk
11: Boysenberry
12: Cornsilk
13: Mallard
14 (extra rnd): Black
This square did not really require blocking, but I used the wet blocking method just to make it perfect.
