Crochet This Lovely, Fringed Shawl Today – Tidal Wave! – Expression Fiber Arts | A Positive Twist on Yarn

Hello, my sweet moonbeam! Today, I have a lovely, relaxing, rectangle shawl to share with you. I think you’re going to adore crocheting this delightful design, and did I mention the super fun fringe? Keep reading to learn all about it!

Crochet This Lovely, Fringed Shawl Today – Tidal Wave! – Expression Fiber Arts | A Positive Twist on Yarn

Tidal Wave was designed by Susanna Biaye. When asked about this pattern, Susanna said, “Just like the tidal wave, the beauty of this shawl is the recurring colors that blend perfectly into the next. The fun part is looking forward to the next color change. Once you have mastered the Crossed Double Crochet stitch, this pattern is a breeze! Add the adorable, optional tassels on the ends to add some fun to your shawl.”

This is an Adventurous Beginner to Intermediate level pattern that is suitable for crocheters who feel comfortable with crocheting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include Crossed Double Crochet, color changes, adding a border, optional fringe, and blocking.

Tidal Wave is crocheted with our luxurious Mirage Sport yarn. This dreamy, 3-ply blend of 70% Superwash Merino Wool, 10% Natural Baby Camel, 10% Cashmere, and 10% Mulberry Silk is a delight to work with and offers incredible softness, gorgeous drape, and a subtle gleam that makes every stitch shine. Whether you’re crafting treasured blankets, sophisticated shawls, cozy hats, or timeless sweaters, Mirage Sport delivers unmatched beauty and structure for all your cherished projects and has 350 yds/320 m per skein.

We used our stunning Viola Hues Mirage Sport Kit [350 yds/320 m per skein (1750 yds/1600 m per five-skein kit)] to make the sample shown here, which used approximately 1551 yards/1418 meters total. The colors were used in the following order: A) Dark Purple, B) Purple, C) Dark Green, D) Light Green, and E) White.

We made a video in which I demonstrate how to work the Crossed Double Crochet stitch and make a mini version of this shawl. Grab your hook and some yarn, and get ready to crochet a few stitches with me!
