If you think luaus and balloons can’t be elegant, this tropical dinner party proves otherwise. For a collaboration with Balloon Time, I leaned into classic luau elements—pineapples, palm fronds and tiki glasses—then introduced a bold balloon centerpiece and a few sweet bon bons. The result, aptly named “Palm Fronds + Bon Bons,” blends playful tropical motifs with refined styling.
I experimented with several balloon techniques and landed on a favorite method for shaping and decorating balloons into palm-frond inspired forms. The palm-frond balloons became the focal point of the table and one of my most enjoyable DIY projects to date. The full party details and step-by-step balloon how-tos, including a printable template for the palm leaves, are available through Balloon Time’s project feature.

The pink-and-green palette used here feels fresh and modern—when balanced well, those colors can be stunning. I also fell for the balloon centerpiece; it was surprisingly simple to assemble and makes a big visual impact. It’s the kind of statement piece I’d love to include at every gathering going forward.
