Vibrant Rainbow Bundt Cake Recipe for Festive Celebrations

Rainbow cake

We had rainbows on the brain this month to match our cloud clutch, which sold out so fast! If you’re on the waitlist for the next one, congrats—you might get a little something sweet with it. In the meantime, you absolutely need a rainbow bundt cake in your life. It’s one of the easiest, most show-stopping cakes you can make, and honestly, it’s just fun. Ready to make one?

Ingredients

  • Favorite cake recipe (any flavor)
  • Buttercream
  • Food coloring in desired rainbow colors

Instructions

  • Bake your cake in a smooth, round bundt pan and let it cool completely before decorating.
  • Using a serrated knife, carefully cut away the bottom third of the cake. The remaining top two-thirds will form the rainbow arch.
  • Prop the bundt cake upright on a cake board or plate. Use generous amounts of buttercream under and around the ends of the rainbow to secure it. Chill for at least an hour so the buttercream sets and the cake becomes more stable.
  • Apply a thin crumb coat of buttercream over the entire cake. Frost the topmost edge of the rainbow with purple buttercream to start the color sequence.
  • Divide buttercream into portions and tint each with food coloring: pink, red, orange, yellow, teal, blue, and purple. Fit piping bags with a medium round tip and pipe each color in uniform lines across the rainbow, starting with pink and ending with purple. Repeat the same pattern on the other side of the arch.
  • Fill a piping bag with white buttercream and a large round tip. Pipe fluffy clouds around the bottom ends of the rainbow to finish the look.
