DIY Easter Egg-Gram Gift Ideas for Friends and Family

Think of this as an Easter basket you can mail. When friends or family can’t celebrate in person, send a cheerful, mailable egg-gram. Transform a store-bought cardboard or papier-mâché egg, fill it with Easter treats, address it, and send it off. It’s an easy way to deliver Easter cheer from afar — and yes, you can still get it there in time if you act quickly.

Supplies:
– Cardboard or papier-mâché egg container (large from World Market, small from Ikea, or any similar option)
– Paint (optional — you can send the egg as purchased, or prime with white and decorate with watercolors)
– Sharpie for addressing
– Glue or clear shipping tape for sealing

How to make a mailable egg-gram:
1. Prepare the egg: If you choose to decorate, apply a couple of coats of primer or white paint to cover any printed surface. Once dry, add watercolor or other decorative touches. Keep decoration light so it won’t smudge during shipping.
2. Fill and seal: Add candy, small treats, and a bit of Easter grass or filler. To close the egg, glue the seam with hot glue or super glue for a secure seal — this keeps contents safe but can be harder to open. As an easier option, wrap the seam with clear shipping tape for protection while allowing easier opening.
3. Address and mail: Use a permanent marker or Sharpie to write the recipient’s address directly on the egg, or attach a plain label. Take the egg to the post office so it can be weighed and postage applied correctly. You can mail the egg without an outer box in most cases; just follow postal guidelines and package securely.

A bit of background: My mom inspired this project. She’s always sent holiday packages filled with treats to the grandkids and our family, and I’ve enjoyed planning my own signature Easter surprise. This egg-gram is a playful way to continue that tradition and share a personalized Easter treat with loved ones who live far away.

If you enjoy seasonal DIYs, this is an easy, charming idea to add to your Easter plans. Have fun decorating and filling your egg-gram, and happy mailing!
