I love a thoughtfully assembled gift box or care package. There’s something special about receiving several small, carefully chosen items that together create an experience. For a recent project we created a DIY “birthday in a box” designed for your best friend. The idea is simple: a single box filled with everything needed to celebrate a birthday, from balloons to bubbly, plus printable touches that guide the day from start to finish.

If you choose to make your own version, personalize the contents and printables to match your friend’s interests. A movie-night themed box could include popcorn, a cozy blanket and a curated film list; a spa-day box might feature face masks, a scented candle and a handwritten coupon for a manicure; a night out box could include gift cards, a playlist and a confetti popper. Small, thoughtful items tailored to the recipient make the gift feel intentional and memorable.
When assembling the box, consider including: a few helium balloons to set the mood; a small bottle of champagne or sparkling wine for toasting; a printed itinerary or set of prompts to guide the celebration; a handwritten note; a few edible treats; and one or two keepsakes.
