December is well underway, and if your advent calendar is already up, great — but I wanted to share the advent calendar we made this year. Well, technically it’s Jeff’s calendar. Over Thanksgiving Stickygram was running a buy-two-get-one-free promotion, and I ordered a few sheets of Instagram magnets as a surprise. Jeff loves Instagram (maybe more than I do), so I thought this would be a perfect gift. I picked his favorite photos from his account and the Stickygram team delivered the magnets quickly, just in time for December 1st. That’s how this simple advent calendar came together.

I had a bunch of red bows left over from another project, so I slipped each magnet into a small white favor bag and sealed it with a bow. Then I threaded the bags onto twine and hung the line on the wall. Each day Jeff opens a new Instagram magnet — he’s planning to install a magnetic board in his office to display them all.

That’s all there is to it. Since we don’t have kids yet and I wanted something quick and personal, this last-minute idea worked perfectly. What did your advent calendar look like this year? There are so many creative versions out there — we went with a simple, photo-filled approach and couldn’t be happier.
(P.S. I wasn’t paid by Stickygram for this post — I was just impressed with how fast the magnets arrived and how well they turned out.)
