On October 3rd he asked me what day it was—so here’s the Burn Book costume inspired by Mean Girls. This is one of the simplest and most creative DIY costumes: if you already own a pink dress, you only need a few supplies to turn it into an instantly recognizable look.
With just a printer, scissors and temporary hem tape you can assemble this costume in minutes. Below you’ll find straightforward instructions and a printable template to make the lettering process even easier.

What You’ll Need
Supplies
- Pink dress (a simple fitted style works best)
- Burn Book printable letters (use the provided template for easy sizes)
- Printer and standard computer paper
- Scissors
- Temporary hem tape for fabric

How To Make A Burn Book Costume
Follow these quick steps to assemble the costume:
- Print the Burn Book letters and shapes on standard computer paper, then cut each piece out carefully.
- Cut strips of temporary hem tape and place them on the back of each letter and any decorative shapes. Position the tape close to the edges so the pieces will lie flat.
- Peel the backing from the hem tape and press each letter onto the pink dress where you want it. Apply firm pressure to ensure each piece adheres well.
- When you’re finished with the costume, the hem tape removes cleanly—just peel the pieces off the dress.
