DIY Chill Pill Costume Ideas for Halloween and Parties

This DIY chill pill costume was an instant favorite from our lineup, so I wanted to share the simple tutorial right away. After the Twinkies costume we made, this one felt like the natural next step—fun, bold and ridiculously easy to put together.

There really isn’t a complicated process here: print the letter template, cut out the letters and attach them to a pink dress and cropped sweatshirt. For those who want the exact look, the dress in our shop will be available later this week in the ideal chill pill pink.

What You’ll Need

Supplies

Pink dress
White cropped sweatshirt
CHILL template (printable)
Black felt
Pencil or chalk
Scissors
Temporary hem tape or needle and thread

How To Make A Chill Pill Costume

  1. Print the CHILL letters template and cut out each letter from the paper.
  2. Trace the letters onto black felt using a pencil or chalk, then carefully cut them out.
  3. Attach the letters to the sweatshirt and dress. For the most secure hold, tack the letters by hand with a few stitches—place stitches on the “C” and “H” on the sweatshirt and the remaining letters on the dress so they sit evenly. These stitches are small and can be cut later to remove the letters. If you prefer a no-sew option, use temporary hem tape: run strips along each letter and press firmly to adhere them to the fabric. That’s it—your costume is ready.

I almost used a Freaky Friday quote again, but I resisted. I need to, like, chill for a sec. There I go—couldn’t help myself!
