Love vs Design Wallpaper Review: Pros, Cons, and Installation Guide

After five years living with our kitchen renovation, we still loved the cabinets, tile, and layout—but wanted to introduce more color and pattern. To brighten the space without a major remodel, I partnered with Love vs. Design to add removable wallpaper to the untiled walls.

Love vs. Design offers multiple removable wallpaper materials and hundreds of customizable designs. I chose the Floral Stripes pattern in custom silk and merlot tones and am thrilled with the final result. Below is a detailed review of the product, the ordering process, and our installation experience.

Removable Wallpaper Types

There are several removable wallpaper options on the market, and Love vs. Design simplifies the choice by offering three main material types. The most common style is peel-and-stick, which removes easily from non-matte paint surfaces.

Love vs. Design’s peel-and-stick comes in two finishes: smooth semi-matte and a textured woven option. The smooth finish works well in bathrooms and kitchens, while the woven has a fabric-like texture that adds depth to a room.

We selected the Glissade material. Glissade is a traditional-style wallpaper that installs and removes with water—no adhesive paste required. You spray water on the wall and the back of the paper to activate the adhesive, then smooth each panel into place. This material is wipeable and practical for a busy kitchen, so it fit our needs perfectly.

A note on seams: the peel-and-stick variants include a 1″ overlap, while Glissade is installed edge-to-edge for a seamless look.

Customizing Colors

One of the strongest features of Love vs. Design is the ability to fully customize colors. Most patterns can be adjusted to hundreds of shades, so you can match existing finishes or build a coordinated color palette for your space.

For our kitchen, we ordered the Floral Stripes pattern and customized the palette to Merlot and Silk. The customization made it easy to coordinate the wallpaper with our cabinets and tile while adding a bold, layered look.

Ordering Samples

Samples are available for $6 each, and you can add a color swatch sheet for an additional $6. The swatch sheets let you compare multiple shades of the same hue without paying for separate pattern samples—useful when trying to match whites or neutrals already in your home.

The samples are generously sized (about 9″ x 25″), large enough to evaluate pattern scale, color, and material. You can test the sample on your actual wall surface—peel-and-stick samples will adhere and remove, and Glissade samples can be applied with water—so you can confirm how the paper performs on your texture before ordering the full run.

Measuring for Your Wallpaper

Measuring is straightforward: ignore door and window placements and measure the height at the room’s tallest point. For width, measure each wall at its widest point and add the widths together. Use those height and total width numbers when placing your order. This method accounts for pattern repeats and ensures you receive enough material for all walls.

Installing Removable Wallpaper

The wallpaper arrives rolled with clear instructions and a squeegee included. Follow the prep steps provided—clean, dry, and smooth your walls—and the installation process is simple. Each panel is labeled in order, which helps maintain pattern continuity, especially with mural-style designs.

When working around archways, cabinets, or trim, leave a small overhang so you can trim the excess cleanly after the panel is in place. The Glissade material adheres smoothly with water activation and trims neatly for a professional finish.

Quality and Durability of Love vs. Design Wallpaper

The Glissade wallpaper we used feels substantial and opaque, effectively masking minor wall imperfections. It adhered without issue and has proven easy to clean—wiping it down removes typical kitchen splatters without damaging the paper.

The wallpaper dramatically transformed the look of our kitchen, adding visual interest and color while feeling both durable and practical for daily life.

Love vs. Design is an excellent option for renters, homeowners, and families looking for customizable wallpaper that installs and removes cleanly. If you’re considering adding pattern to a space without committing to paint or tile, their customizable options and material choices make it easy to create a tailored look at a reasonable price.
