DIY Glitter Valentine Photo Props: Craft Cute Party & Photo Booth Signs

I promise the glitter phase won’t last forever — but only because I’ll be switching to a different shade of sparkle soon. Valentine’s Day is just too perfect for glitter! Here’s a peek at the glittery photo props I made for a shoot with Mary Costa and Garlic My Soul. (Full feature arrives on the 14th.) Since discovering Smoothfoam — a foam with a smooth surface that’s great for crafting — I’ve been ordering different shapes and sizes to play with. These X’s and O’s were the perfect blank canvas for a glitter makeover.

Supplies
Smoothfoam letters (or any smooth foam shapes)
Mod Podge (or similar decoupage glue)
Glitter in your favorite colors
Paintbrush
Skewers or sticks for handles

Instructions
1. Brush a thin, even layer of Mod Podge over the foam letter or shape.
2. Sprinkle glitter generously to cover the glued area. Tap off any excess glitter.
3. Allow the glittered surface to dry, then seal it with another thin layer of Mod Podge to keep the sparkle from shedding. Let it dry completely before handling.

Tips: Use a soft brush to smooth the first layer of Mod Podge and a lightweight glitter for even coverage. If you want extra durability, add two thin sealant coats instead of one. Attach a skewer or handle to the back with hot glue or craft glue once the sealant is fully dry.

When the props are ready, step in front of a camera or into a photo booth and start snapping photos. These glitter X’s and O’s make playful additions to Valentine’s photos and are lightweight enough for guests to pose with easily.

Extra uses: These glittered letters also work as cake toppers, table decor, or photo props for parties, showers, and weddings. They’re lightweight, customizable, and make a bold, sparkly statement. For a coordinated look, mix different glitter colors or add painted accents before sealing.
