How to Make Bunny Ear Ice Cream Cones: Cute Spring Dessert Tutorial

Bunny ears ice cream

We’ve made bunny pops and origami bunny baskets before, and now it’s time for bunny ice cream cones. These cheerful cones are simple to make and perfect for spring gatherings. The ears are fully edible—crafted from melted chocolate and candy melts—so the whole bunny can be enjoyed. With just a few ingredients and minimal time, you can create a dessert that looks like a shy bunny peeking out of an ice cream cone.

Pink and white chocolate chips

Supplies you’ll need:

  • White chocolate chips
  • Pink candy melts (or pink-colored white chocolate)
  • Two microwave-safe bowls for melting
  • Sandwich bags (with scissors to snip a corner) or small piping bags
  • Wax paper or parchment
  • Your favorite ice cream and cones

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Melt the white chocolate and the pink candy melts separately. Use short bursts in the microwave (about 20–30 seconds), stirring between intervals until smooth. Avoid overheating so the chocolate stays glossy.
  2. Transfer each melted chocolate to a sandwich bag or a small piping bag. If using sandwich bags, snip a tiny corner to make a piping tip.
  3. On a sheet of wax paper, pipe the outline of a bunny ear with the white chocolate. Then fill in the shape. Work in pairs so the ears match.
  4. When the white ear shapes are still soft but starting to set, pipe a smaller inner ear with the pink candy melts on top of each white ear and fill it in. This creates a layered look with a soft pink inner ear.
  5. Place the tray in the refrigerator until the chocolate ears are fully hardened. Once set, gently peel them off the wax paper.
  6. To attach, press the base of each chocolate ear into the top of an ice cream scoop or cone. If you prefer extra stability, insert a short toothpick into the chocolate before it fully hardens and use it to anchor the ear into the ice cream—but warn guests about the toothpicks to avoid accidental bites.
